2. Reis Magos

Reis Magos is a village located on the northern bank of the Mandovi River in Bardez, Goa, opposite the capital city of Panjim. The village is famous for two of Goa’s famous structures; the Reis Magos Fort, and the Reis Magos Church – the first church in Bardez. The fort is a must-visit for history lovers and photographers. Bring sunscreen and bottled water, as the fort and the area around it, can be hot and sunny. Wear good walking shoes, because access to the fort requires ascending a steep, mossy staircase.

3. Calangute beach

“Queen of Beaches”, Calangute is a town in the North Goa district of the Indian state of Goa. It is famous for its beach, the largest in North Goa and a popular tourist destination. 5. Palolem Beach

Both ends of the beach consist of rocks jutting out into the sea. The depth of the sea increases gradually, being the shallowest at the northern end of the beach, making it safe for average swimmers, and the currents are not fast. 6. Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary

This sanctuary is the largest home to a huge variety of plant, bird and animal life. Nature lovers and hikers enjoy the hiking trails that traverse this huge tract of land. In addition to the large amount of biodiversity that the sanctuary possesses, it is also home to the famous Dudhsagar waterfall, the Devil’s Canyon, the Tambdi Surla temple, the Tambdi falls and several other historic and religious sites. 7. Cabo de Rama Beach

Cabo de Rama Beach, also known among local citizens as Cab de Ram, is a beautiful wild beach in the south of Goa. The waters here have a pristine greenish-blue hue. Locals consider the Beach to be one of the most beautiful places in the country. The Beach is very disconnected because of its distance from large urban communities. The sand here is light, delicate and sober.  Behind the Beach raises a precarious rock with a level top. Steep harsh advances lead down to the Beach. Leftward on the Beach, part of the way submerged into the ocean stands a rock with a solitary tree on top. It is among the most charming beach and picnic spots in Goa.

8. Divar Island

The island of Divar lies in the Mandovi river in the Indian state of Goa. A launch also connects Divar to the city of Panjim from further north-west, in the island village of Vanxim. The Konkan Railway passes through the village and the nearest stop to the village is the train station at Carambolim. The drive to the village is scenic, with paddy fields and wooded hills lacing the roadway, very typical of the Goan countryside. Similar to the Carnival, the famous Bonderam festival is celebrated in Divar on the fourth Saturday of August during the monsoon with great fanfare and is attended by thousands of tourists and locals. 9. Fort Aguada

Fort Aguada is a well-preserved seventeenth-century Portuguese fort along with a lighthouse, standing in Goa, India, on Sinquerim Beach, overlooking the Arabian Sea. The waterfall is located in the state of Goa. The area is surrounded by deciduous forests with rich biodiversity. 12. Chapora fort

It is located in Bardez, Goa, rises high above the Chapora River. It has now become a popular tourist spot and offers a view north across the Chapora river to Pernem, south over Vagator and also far out to the Arabian Sea in the West. The Chapora fort sits in a prominent position that commands views in all directions. It also has steep slopes on all sides. The fort follows the outline of the higher slopes. This offers an advantage over dry ditches being dug. At the top of the steep approach track, the main gate is small and unpretentious, but narrow and deep. The Fort of Chapora got popularized by the movie Dil Chahta Hai (Starring Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan, and Akshaye Khanna) and is now a prime attraction in Goa.

13. Basilica of bom jesus

The Basilica of Bom Jesus is a Roman Catholic basilica located in the Goa state, situated in the Konkan region of India. It is both a pilgrimage center and also the most iconic monument of all the churches and convents of Goa, recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The basilica is located in Old Goa, the former capital of Portuguese India, and holds the mortal remains of St Francis Xavier. St Francis is considered the patron saint of Goa and the Apostle of the Indies. The relics of the saint still attract a huge number of devotees from all around the world. 14. Scuba diving in Goa

Scuba diving is a type of underwater diving whereby divers use breathing equipment that is completely independent of a surface air supply. It’s not mandatory to know swimming for scuba diving. Scuba diving is safe in Goa and most of the diving instructors are PADI certified. Scuba diving is safer here as the waters at most of the locations around Goa beaches and islands are shallow and with low undercurrents. Although the danger potential may seem high, diving is relatively safe sport when conducted sensibly.

15. Dona Paula

Dona Paula is a village and tourist destination in the neighborhood of Panaji, Goa, India. Dona Paula is located on the sea stretch that spans from Panjim, Miramar and Dona Paula is an area frequented by tourists. During the tourist season, Dona Paula transforms into a crowded stretch which is otherwise a calm place during monsoons. A large part of the Hindi movie Ek Duuje Ke Liye was shot here, popularizing the place further. An action sequence from Rohit Shetty’s movie Singham was shot here. One of the best places to visit in Goa is Dona Paula which is a whitewashed statue perched on the rocks near the ferry jetty.

16. Morjim Beach

Morjim Beach is famous for Olive Ridley Sea Turtles. Enjoy the beach by watching dolphins swimming in the deep sea, diving for seagulls and looking out for waterbirds including beautiful kingfishers, kites and other species. Adventure sports are not much here due to the inhibition of water animals. We were recommended to go to this beach for our morning walk by our homestay host. Quite, serene, really clean, and safe too. Morjim is considered one of the safest beaches in Goa for swimming. The Best place to visit in Goa is Morjim beach. This beach nestled amid lush green locales is calm and serene. Located in the Pernem district, Morjim is renowned as the nesting place for Olive Ridley turtles.

17. Anjuna Beach

Arjuna is a village located on the coast of North Goa which is located 18 kilometers from Panaji and 8 kilometers to the west of Mapusa, North Goa. It is situated in Anjuna village of Bardez taluka in North Goa. It is mostly a tourist destination and the best place to visit in Goa. Anjuna is famous for trance parties held on its beach during the tourist season (October – April). Anjuna also hosts the famous flea market (every Wednesday and Saturday), in which products from all over India, as well as from foreigners, are sold, ranging from fruits to jewelry, to clothes, to hashish and electronic devices. 

18. Candolim Beach

Forming a part of the trio of Calangute, Baga and Candolim party beaches in Goa, this beach is comparatively less crowded which attracts a lot of foreign tourists.
