Jharkhand “The land of forest” is a state in eastern India, created on 15 November 2000, from what was previously the southern half of Bihar. Jharkhand is known for its waterfalls, hills and holy places. Parasnath, Baidyanath Dham, and Rajrappa are major religious places. Itkhori is a holy place for Hindus, Buddhists and Jains. It is believed to be the place from where Gautama Buddha started his journey for Bodh Gaya. Many sculptures of Hindu, Jain and Buddhist art styles were found in 2018. There are several waterfalls in the state including Jonha Falls, Hundru Falls, Dassam Falls and Panchghagh Falls. Netarhat is a hill station in the state. There are several wildlife sanctuaries in Jharkhand including Betla National Park and Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary which are major attractions for tourists.

1. Ranchi

Ranchi, which is known as the summer capital of Jharkhand, has some of the most scenic cityscapes in India. Ranchi, in its modern form, is the capital city of the Indian state of Jharkhand. 3. Deoghar

Located in the beautiful state of Jharkhand, the town of Deoghar provides a spiritual experience like no other.  This beautiful city is also popular for its various magnificent Deoghar Temples. Deoghar, also known as Baidyanath Dham, is an important Hindu pilgrimage site. It is one of the twelve and also one of the 51 and is famous for the mela of Shrawan, 4th month according to the Hindu calendar system. The temple of Baidyanath or Lord Shiva is the most important of all the temples in the courtyard. 4. Hazaribagh

Hazaribagh is known as the  ‘City of a thousand gardens‘ is a land of flora and fauna, well known for its health resort.  Located in the state of Jharkhand, the Hazaribagh National Park is one of the oldest wildlife sanctuaries in India. The Hazaribagh National Park is located at a distance of 19 km from Hazaribagh and 135 km away from Ranchi. 5. Giridih

Giridih is known as the ‘Land of Hills,’ Giridih is widely visited by Jain pilgrims and is often termed as ‘The land of Jain Pilgrims.’ It is rich in coal, and has many small and big coal mines in and around the town. After 1972 when the town was separated from the Hazaribagh district, Giridih became its own headquarters. Beautiful valleys, charming hills, dams, and temples in Giridih contribute to tourism in Jharkhand. Famous places to visit nearby are Parasnath Hills, Usri Fall, Khandoli Park and Dam, Madhuvan, Jharkhandi Dham, Harihar Dham, Langta Baba Samadhi Sthal, Surya Temple and Devari Temple.

6. Sahibganj

Sahibganj  is a scenic town and a port city with the serene Ganga and sturdy hills in the Sahibganj subdivision of the Sahebganj district of Jharkhand. It is located on the north-east of Jharkhand and situated on the bank of Ganga. Sahibganj is the only district in Jharkhand which is blessed with the beautiful beaches of river Ganga. On one hand, you can enjoy boating in its beautiful waters and on the other hand, you can laze by its soothing banks. You can also frame the enthralling sunset and the sunrise views of the river in your camera. Sahibganj is a smaller but beautiful upcoming tourist destination that is worth a visit. 7. Bokaro

Bokaro is famous for its steel plant, which is the biggest in Asia, as well as for its quality educational system. It is also a popular tourist destination for people from Eastern Region and also foreigners. The city is located on the banks of Garga River and on the fringes of Bokaro river and is surrounded by hill ranges at Giridih and Ramgarh districts. 8. Netarhat

Netarhat is a hill station in Latehar district in the Indian state of Jharkhand. It is also referred to as the “Queen of Chotanagpur“, and is a hill station. Netarhat is known for its sunrises and sunsets during the summer months. It is located within forests which have varied flora and fauna. Upper Ghaghri Falls is situated 4 km away from Netarhat. Lodh Falls is the highest waterfall of Jharkhand and 21st highest in India. Netarhat is not very well known but one of the most wonderful places to visit. The nature and peaceful surroundings will make you feel wonderful. There is also a school located nearby which is very popular in the local area. Some of the other tourist places nearby are Netarhat Hills, Koel View Point, Sadni Falls, Magnolia Sunset Point, Upper Ghaghri Falls and Lower Ghaghri Falls.

9. Palamu

Palamu is known for lush green forests teeming with rich wildlife, gorgeous waterfalls and not to forget the diverse culture of the region that take you back to the remnants of the past. Palamu, with its supreme natural beauty, has the prospect of becoming a hotspot for Jharkhand tourism. The Palamau Tiger Reserve  in Palamau district is one of the nine original tiger reserves in Jharkhand, and the only one in this state. It forms part of Betla National Park and Palamau Wildlife Sanctuary. Some of the famous places nearby are Palamu fort and Lodhi fort.

10. Betla national Park

Betla National Park is a national park located on the Chota Nagpur Plateau in the Latehar and Palamu district of Jharkhand.  The park hosts a wide variety of wildlife. One of the earliest tiger reserves in the country, Betla National Park is home to fauna like panthers, leopards, chital, sloths, wild bear, sambar, mouse deer and langurs. Spread over a hilly terrain of 250 sq km, the park is dotted with pristine waterfalls, natural hot springs and a smattering of monuments. The park provides several opportunities to observe a variety of wildlife at close range. There are elephant rides and jeeps available with guides for venturing inside the park. Watch towers and ground hides have been constructed to view the wildlife. The park is open throughout the year. Wildlife sightings are highest in the hot season (May to June), when foliage is not as thick. The most comfortable time to visit in terms of climate is between November and March.

11. Ghatshila

Ghatshila is a town on the Subarnarekha River, in the east Indian state of Jharkhand. Set among forested hills, it’s home to Ghatsila Rankini Mandir, a temple dedicated to the goddess Kali and decorated with brightly painted carvings of Hindu deities. To the north, Phuldungri Hillock overlooks the town, and Burudi Lake is a popular picnic spot. Northwest, elephants and deer roam through Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary. Ghatshila is best known for these mines because they are Asia’s first copper mines and the world’s second deepest mines. Ghatshila is a town of festivals, where the locals are fond of celebrating in unity. Visiting Here not only gives you the opportunity of spending quality time in nature, but with the side of mystical waterfalls and picturesque hills, you also get to pay heed to deities in old historical temples.

12. Rock Garden

Ranchi’s rock garden is a garden laid out among rocks or decorated with rocks and adapted for the growth of particular kinds of plants is situated in front of CMPDI Headquarters in Kanke Road which is about 4 km. far from the Albert Akka Chowk in Ranchi, The basic attraction of the rock garden in Ranchi is that many statues have been carved out of the rocks of Gonda Hill. The main attraction, however, is the uniquely constructed iron footbridge which is supported only by two poles, a true example of architectural brilliance. 

13. Biodiversity Park

The  Biodiversity Park in Jharkhand  has become the hub for forest communities, rich wetlands, grasslands, and a wide range of fruit-yielding trees and medicinal herbs. The park also consists of native flora and fauna species that have long been extinct in the area. Spread across a vast area, it is divided into various sections such as the Rose Garden, the Aquatic Park and the Chinese Garden, all of which are worth visiting. Best time to visit a biodiversity park is in winter.

14. Jagganath temple

Jagannath Temple in Ranchi, is a 17th-century temple dedicated to Lord Jagannath. Similar to the famous Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha, this temple is built in the same architectural style, although smaller. And similar to the Rath Yatra in Puri, an annual fair cum rath yatra is held at this temple in the month of Aashaadha, attracting thousands of tribal and non-tribal devotees not only from Ranchi but also from neighboring villages and towns and is celebrated with much pomp and vigorThe temple has been built on a hilltop. To reach the top visitors can climb the stairs or take the vehicle route. There are many steps and the climber needs to rest intermittently before resuming. 

15. Pakur

Pakur,is a town with a nagar palika in the Pakur subdivision of the Pakur district in Jharkhand State. It remained a sub-division of Sahibganj till it was upgraded as district in the year 1994. Pakur is rich in minerals such as coal, china clay, fire clay, quartz, silica sand and glass sand. Industrially the district is not developed but in respect of mines, Pakur is famous for its stone industry. Famous Places to visit in Pakur is Martello Tower, Siddhu kanhu park, Dharni pahar Temple, Mahakal Shakti peeth, Kanchangarah, Birkitti fort, Nityakali Mandir, Shiv Sheetla mandir and Diwan-e-Pir.
